About Laura

Laura Rose Phillips is the inaugural Curator for the Visual Arts at the Medical Historical Library, Harvey Cushing / John Hay Whitney Medical Library at Yale University. Trained in the histories of art and science, her research traverses two distinctive, multidisciplinary fields— (1) the intersection of the visual arts and aesthetic philosophy in Germany between the 18th and 20th centuries; (2) the proliferation of astral knowledge and its cross-cultural visualizations between the 15th and 20th centuries. She received her PhD, with distinction, from the Department of the History of Art at Yale University in May 2020 and since then, has held postdoctoral teaching, curatorial, and research appointments at both Yale University and the Freie Universität Berlin.
